Guided historical kayak tours
in Morgantown, West Virginia

Hey Tim! We really had a great time. So much so, that since then we found the book you recommended to us online at Borders, though used, a great deal at $1.99 + freight. We are serious about getting kayaks and sharing the experience together. We can`t thank you enough for giving us such a special look in the world of kayaking. Being on the water on such a beautiful evening was so relaxing. We appreciate the informative stories and knowledge you have about the river, and the dinner on banks of the Monogahela was such a great experience. Then to top it off, the moonlit ride back to the dock was the icing on the cake. It was a pleasure to have spent the evening with you and hope that in the future we may meet again. Years down the road, when we are more experienced kayakers, we will always remember you for breaking us into such a beautiful sport. Thanks again!!  -George and Kay, Baltimore

Thank you for the kayak tour on Sept. 17th. It was such a beautiful night, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. The river was so smooth, it looked like a mirror reflecting the moon & trees. And hearing the beaver smack the water for the first time was exciting. It was the most peaceful and relaxing evening I have had in quite a while. -Kim, Morgantown, WV

It was a wonderful week in W.Va. Your trip was the highlight of our week. With having a 5,6,8 & 10 yr. old I was a little unsure whether it was going to be okay. Especially with the two younger ones. They picked up the technique and really amazed me at how well they did. You really knew your stuff and they learned a lot about the history while having fun. They are still talking about the trip and the beaver (: We visited Pricketts Fort and they talked a little about the history of the area and surprisingly enough the kids actually new some of it from your trip. The swimming hole was a nice way to end the trip. I have referred you to one of the kids' teachers. I highly recommended your trip. Thanks for a memorable evening. It was the best. - Keri, Havre de Grace, Md.

The kayak tour was great. Several of our group had never been in a kayak before (myself included) and we had no problems. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the area and paddling around on the river. We also enjoyed the swimming hole: I am sure most of our group never had a chance to experience anything quite like that before. Thanks so much!  - Ginger, Swarthmore, Pa.

Just a short note to "THANK YOU".  We had a wonderful time!  - Jan, Pittsburgh, Pa.

I enjoyed the time on the river and 4th of July fireworks, and had a wonderful time.  I felt like I was not in Morgantown but somewhere in a resort place...  As I might have mentioned, the last time I tried kayaking was on a flat muddy river in Iowa a couple of years ago. I really liked the time floating on the river and watching surface of the water.  I don't know how to meditate, it's difficult thing to do, but I like the moment when my  mind feel like floating and empty (in a positive sense).  Thank you again.   -Toru, from Fairmont State College

My hometown is Shanghai, situated on the banks of the Yangtze River Delta. It's China's largest city. Downtown Shanghai is divided into west and east by The Huangpu River, and the waterfront of river is well known as The Bund. People who have been living in the city with a river will never forget the nursing from the river in their hometown. It’s like a caressing from your grandma when you were little, a whisper in your dream and nostalgia in your entire life.
The river of the city is always like a story teller, a witness of history, a container full of the vivid stories. Tim’s kayak tour on July 4th gave me such a wonderful time of learning the history of Morgantown. The pictures I have seen in WVU downtown library are made vivid by his story telling. On the waterfront place, the brick building was build as Morgantown Train Station, now is the bus depot of Morgantown public transportation. The first passenger train came from Fairmont on February 14th, 1898 -- only seven passengers waiting for the train, all males, wearing Sunday suits; some of them were smoking. Then the steam boats took the train business. The river contained the stories of people’s adventure, love and mysteries. As an international student, I believe I had more enjoyment that local people of Monongahela River history. I enjoyed kayaking and fireworks on July 4th, the celebrating of America’s Independent Day as well. - Lingbing Hang, WVU grad student from Shanghai, China

We want to thank you so much--everyone had a wonderful time, and for the kids it may be the highlight of their trip.
-Sue, Morgantown resident

My dad and I went on Tim’s kayak tour together.  We enjoyed learning about the Monongahela River’s rich history. Even as lifetime residents of Monongalia County we knew little of it.  The highlight of the tour was taking a dip at the Red Rocks swimming hole.  I was unsure about swimming in the Monongahela, but Tim informed us that the river is clean and healthy, 33 years after the Clean Water Act of 1972.  Thanks Tim for a great kayak tour.  My dad enjoyed his Father’s Day gift. - Lisa, Morgantown

For a city girl, this I the niftiest thing I've ever done!
- Aryn, a WVU graduate student

It was fun to see this other side of Morgantown. As a new resident, I especially liked the history lesson!

A wonderful journey on the Monongahela back in time to learn some of the history of the river and its inhabitants. Tim Terman's knowledge of the river is unsurpassed. And the kayaking is supreme. Highly recommended!!

Thank you so much for the wonderful time we spent on the water with you. We all enjoyed it so much, and the geese coming down the river will be a long term memory for me. Your patience with the zig zag crew was greatly appreciated. I hope you and yours are doing well.
